Cloud API Solution Architect

We are looking for a senior-level Cloud API Solution Architect to lead the design of secure, scalable and resilient technology solutions within a complex, regulated enterprise environment. This role focuses on solution architecture, system integration and API-led design, acting as the bridge between enterprise architecture, delivery teams, vendors and senior stakeholders.

The successful candidate will own the end-to-end technical solution design, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards, security requirements and long-term IT strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualization and design of end-to-end solution architectures based on project requirements and IT strategies.

• Ensure proposed solutions comply with enterprise architecture principles, standards and governance guidelines.

• Act as a bridge between enterprise architects, technical delivery teams and vendors, translating architectural intent into executable designs.

• Produce and maintain solution architecture and technical design documentation.

• Communicate architectural decisions clearly and effectively to stakeholders, including senior IT management and architecture governance boards.

• Drive architecture reviews and approvals, articulating design rationale and securing stakeholder buy-in.

• Participate in vendor, product and technology evaluations to support solution proposals.

• Review system integration test cases from an architecture and integration perspective.

• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices, contributing to innovation and continuous improvement.

Required Experience & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline.

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the financial services industry, with at least 7 years in Solution Architecture roles.

• Good understanding of system development and project implementation lifecycles in a regulated environment.

• Proven experience designing scalable, resilient hybrid architectures involving both cloud platforms and on-premise systems.

• Solid knowledge of:

  • Solution and enterprise architecture principles

  • System integration patterns

  • Microservices architecture

  • Cloud computing services

• Hands-on experience with system integration technologies, including:

  • REST APIs

  • Host-to-Host integration (SFTP)

• Good understanding of API specifications, security and governance, including:

  • OAuth, OIDC, mTLS

  • API lifecycle management

• Experience with API Management platforms, including API publishing, policy configuration, security and monitoring.

• Knowledge of SFTP integration and security mechanisms (SSH keys, PGP encryption).

• Good understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts, particularly networking and serverless architectures.

• Prior experience in system development (preferably Java) with knowledge of code versioning tools such as Git or SVN.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.

• Good analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

• Architecture or cloud-related certifications (e.g. TOGAF, Cloud Solution Architect certifications)
