Job Description

Overview and purpose of the position

The Division of Neurosurgery at the National University Hospital (NUH) is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to conduct recruitment and data collection for ongoing cohort studies in the areas of health outcomes and cognition research in patients with brain tumours and spontaneous intracerebral haemorrhage.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate and manage all aspects of clinical research studies from site initiation, subject recruitment, data collection, to study close-out.
  2. Identify, recruit, and screen potential study subjects based on protocol criteria.
  3. Administer informed consent to enrolled subjects.
  4. Schedule study visits and procedures, providing reminders to ensure subject retention.
  5. Ensure proper collection, management and storage of research data and biological samples.
  6. Set up and maintain study investigator files, including records of consent taken and blood collection.
  7. Maintain and update screening log & enrolment logs.
  8. Ensure patients/subjects compliance to trial medication (if any).
  9. Assist Principal Investigator with preparation of documents for ethics submissions and renewals.
  10. Work cross-functionally with medical, research, and operations teams involved in the study.
  11. Liaise with the relevant departments for logistic and finances-related matters.
  12. Prepare necessary documentation for audit purposes.
  13. Complete Case Report Forms (CRFs).
  14. Provide care coordination and supporting clinicians for memory clinic service.
  15. Perform administrative duties and ad-hoc project as assigned by the Principal Investigator/Manager.

Qualification Required and Area of Discipline

  • Diploma/degree or equivalent in qualifications in Science, Life Sciences, or Nursing. 1-2 years of Clinical Research Coordinator experience in a hospital setting is desirable.

  • Able to manage multiple projects with excellent project management skills and to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good written and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in other languages (Mandarin/Malay/Tamil) and/or Chinese dialects will be an added advantage.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and documentation practices.
  • Familiar with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and the Human Biomedical Research Act (HBRA).
