Civil Construction Project Engineer

Job Summary: The Project Engineer (Scaffolding) is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and executing scaffolding works in compliance with safety regulations, engineering standards, and project timelines. The role ensures safe erection, modification, inspection, and dismantling of scaffolding structures for construction and maintenance projects. Key Responsibilities: 1. Planning & Coordination Review project drawings, specifications, and method statements related to scaffolding work. Prepare scaffolding layouts, calculations, and work schedules. Coordinate with main contractors, safety teams, and clients for work approvals. Ensure material availability and manage scaffolding inventory efficiently. 2. Execution & Supervision Supervise and manage scaffolding erection, modification, and dismantling activities on site. Assign tasks to scaffold supervisors and workers as per competency and safety requirements. Ensure compliance with MOM, WSH, and industry standards during execution. Verify scaffolding tags, access systems, and load capacity compliance. 3. Safety & Compliance Prepare and implement Risk Assessment (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems. Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and site inspections regularly. Ensure scaffold structures are inspected and certified by Qualified Person (QP) or Scaffold Supervisor. 4. Documentation & Reporting Maintain inspection checklists, daily progress reports, and material tracking records. Report deviations, hazards, and incidents to management. Ensure proper documentation for project handover and compliance audits. 5. Team & Stakeholder Management Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders. Support training and competency development of scaffold workers and supervisors. Resolve technical issues related to scaffolding design and installation. Required Qualifications & Skills: Diploma / Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant field. Minimum 2-5 years experience in scaffolding or civil construction. Familiar with BS 1139, EN 12811, SS 280, or equivalent standards. Certified: Scaffold Supervisor / Rigger / Work-at-Height / Lifting & Safety certifications (advantage). Strong knowledge in structural stability, load calculation, and safety regulations. Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Project, and MS Office. Strong leadership, communication, and site coordination skills.
