About the role

We're looking for experienced freelance Language Leads to join our Games resource pool. This is an on-demand collaboration, not a full-time position. You can accept the jobs that fit your schedule.

This role is primarily responsible for linguistic quality across our EN>ZH game localization projects, and also helps raise the overall quality of the freelance linguists in our pool.

What you'll do

• Linguist assessment: design game translation tests and scoring rubrics, evaluate candidate translators, editors and give hiring recommendations.
• Training materials: build onboarding guides, style guides, glossaries and error catalogues for game linguists.
• Cultural adaptation: review game content (text, names, visuals, lore) for cultural sensitivity and local compliance and propose adaptation solutions.
• Quality ownership: act as final reviewer and linguistic escalation point on assigned projects, including in-context LQA and quality reports.

Requirements

• Simplified Chinese speaker with excellent English.
• Passionate about games, 7+ years in game localization (translation, editing, LQA or lead roles). Prior experience as a Language Lead is a plus.
• Proven Game translation experience; broad experience across other genres (strategy, RPG, MOBA, FPS, card, simulation, casual, etc.)
• Experience evaluating linguists and giving structured feedback.
• Solid understanding of culturalization for Chinese markets.
• Proficient with CAT tools: Trados, MemoQ, Xbench, etc.
• Nice to have: experience creating training materials, mentoring linguists, working with AI/MT workflows or in-game testing.

Selection process

Shortlisted candidates will take a test (approx. [2–3] hours) covering translation, translation review and culturalization. Candidates who pass will be paid for the test at the agreed hourly rate and added to our freelance pool.
