Children's book Writer/Editor

Project Description:

We have a series of 10 comic books (10 pages each) designed to teach complex concepts to young children. We have the finished scripts and stories, but the current writing is far too adult-oriented, dry, and technical. We need a talented children's book writer/editor to rewrite and proofread these scripts to make them age-appropriate, whimsical, and fun.

The Human-Only Requirement:

IMPORTANT: Please do not use AI (ChatGPT, etc.) to work on this project. We have already tried using AI and found the results to be too robotic, repetitive, and dry. We are looking for a genuine human touch-someone who can inject personality, humor, and heart into the dialogue and make the concepts feel alive.

Target Audience: Children aged 3-8. The language must be very simple, using clear metaphors, playful words, and engaging storytelling.

Scope of Work:

Tone: Whimsical, funny, and encouraging. It should feel like an adventure, not a lesson.

Adaptation: Simplify complex ideas into kid-logic and relatable everyday analogies.

Format: Edit dialogue to fit comfortably within comic book speech bubbles (keep it punchy and short!).

Volume: 10 books total (10 pages per book).

Deliverables:

A trial edit of Book 1.

Upon approval, the remaining 9 books delivered in milestones.

What we are looking for in a Seller:

Proven experience in children's literature or educational storytelling for early childhood.

A portfolio that shows a distinct voice and character-driven writing.

Ability to take heavy information and make it light and bouncy.
