A leading regional wholesale bank is seeking a seasoned Chief Risk Officer to lead its credit risk function for the Singapore Branch and oversee regional exposures. This is a strategic leadership role where you will shape the bank's risk appetite, strengthen credit governance, and partner closely with senior stakeholders across business lines and Head Office. You will play a critical role in balancing business growth with prudent risk management. In return, the role offers an attractive annual remuneration package of up to SGD 250,000 per annum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the end-to-end credit risk management function across the region, ensuring robust governance, controls, and risk oversight.
- Drive the development and implementation of risk appetite, risk tolerance, and limit frameworks in line with internal policies and both local and head office regulatory requirements.
- Oversee credit approval and periodic review processes for corporate, institutional, and commercial lending portfolios.
- Continuously monitor portfolio quality, concentration risks, and emerging risk trends, with timely escalation and mitigation actions.
- Ensure full compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and best market practices.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management and business lines by providing independent, balanced, and commercially sound risk perspectives.
- Collaborate closely with Head Office and regional stakeholders on strategic risk initiatives, portfolio optimisation, and governance matters.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of credit analysts and risk professionals, fostering a strong risk culture.
Requirements:
- Degree in Finance, Banking, Accountancy, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in credit risk, including credit evaluation, portfolio management, and corporate/institutional lending.
- Strong expertise in financial modelling, credit analysis, risk frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- In-depth understanding of banking practices, credit rating methodologies, and portfolio risk management.
- Proven ability to assess complex credit structures and provide well-balanced risk recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior management.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English; proficiency in Chinese will be an added advantage.
