2. Portfolio Performance, M&A, & CAPEX

  • Review and provide necessary support for all major capital investments, vessel acquisitions, and long-term chartering strategies.
  • Ensure proposals are supported by proper financial metrics prior to execution.
  • Conduct post-investment reviews to assess gaps against the original business case assumptions and provide shared learnings to the organization.

3. Risk Management & Paper Markets

  • Oversee and provide strategic financial input on Forward Freight Agreements (FFA) and Forward Freight Pricing (FFP).
  • Manage exposure and implement trading/hedging strategies for EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) carbon credits and bunker fuel hedging.

4. Data Into Knowledge (Systems & Operational Integration)

  • Ensure real-time, accurate visibility into voyage P&L, aging reports, and cash flow to support the commercial chartering and operations teams.
  • Establish and maintain robust Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for voyage accounting, laytime, and demurrage reconciliation.

5. Group Strategy & Leadership

  • Manage cross-border financial structures, tax optimization, and compliance across our international offices.
  • Lead, mentor, and empower a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of analytical excellence and commercial collaboration.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA, CFA, CPA, or CA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate finance, treasury.
  • Mandatory: Deep industry expertise in Maritime / Dry Bulk Shipping, with a strong practical understanding of voyage accounting and physical vs. paper markets.
  • Proven track record of managing relationships with maritime banks and leading large-scale financial transactions or ship financing.

Technical & Personal Attributes

  • Strong experience in investment evaluation, financial modeling, and valuation skills.
  • Experience in overseeing ERP system integrations between shipbroking/operations data and accounting ledgers.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and commercial judgment.
  • Confident in challenging commercial desks using data-driven insights to protect the company's bottom line.
  • High integrity, strategic mindset, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
