Executive Context & Position Summary

The Law Society of Singapore (Law Society or Society) is searching for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Following an independent inquiry into leadership, governance, and workplace culture, the Law Society is entering a period of institutional renewal. The incoming CEO will step into a pivotal, high-visibility role responsible for leading operational reform, and further enhancing internal trust and staff morale.

This position demands an empathetic, resilient, and ethically grounded leader. Beyond overseeing Secretariat operations and advancing statutory functions under the Legal Profession Act, the primary mandate for the incoming CEO will be to strengthen the culture and governance within the Society.

Key Responsibilities

The CEO oversees the functioning of the Secretariat, in particular the formulation and execution of the Law Society's goals towards its vision, mission and culture. In this role, the CEO supervises the operations of the Law Society including the management of its resources. The CEO will be expected to ensure a collaborative and constructive working environment that maximises the Society's personnel. The CEO also acts as the primary liaison between the Secretariat and the Council of the Law Society and serves as the Society's most visible face to stakeholders and the media.

Ideal Candidate Profile & Competencies

Experience & Credentials

· Proven Leadership & Turnaround Success: Minimum 10–15 years of senior management experience, with a track record of leading teams through organizational restructuring or cultural transformation.

· Legal / Professional Services Familiarity: Direct legal qualification or extensive leadership experience within professional bodies, statutory boards, or legal institutions is highly preferred.

· Governance Expertise: Sound understanding of corporate governance, internal controls, risk management, and regulatory frameworks.
