Job Summary
Lead the strategic development and execution of the company's AI research roadmap, driving innovation in advanced AI models and integrating research breakthroughs into scalable commercial solutions. Collaborate across teams and stakeholders to ensure technical excellence, responsible AI governance, and impactful product delivery.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the company's long-term AI research roadmap aligned with commercial and product objectives
- Identify and evaluate emerging AI technologies such as foundation models, multimodal AI, agents, and reasoning systems to inform strategic initiatives
- Represent the company's AI capabilities to investors, partners, and regulators to support business growth and collaboration
- Lead the development and optimization of advanced AI models including large language models (LLMs), multimodal models, and fine-tuned domain-specific models
- Oversee experimentation, benchmarking, and evaluation frameworks to ensure model performance meets defined targets for accuracy, latency, and cost efficiency
- Ensure technical excellence in model architecture design, training pipelines, and optimization processes
- Guide publication strategy and intellectual property generation to enhance the company's research impact and innovation portfolio
- Translate research breakthroughs into deployable AI solutions by collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and Business teams
- Define and enforce model performance targets and ensure AI solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant with relevant standards
- Build and lead a high-performing team of AI scientists and research engineers, establishing best practices for experimentation and model governance
- Mentor senior researchers and technical leads to foster professional growth and scientific rigor
- Cultivate a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the AI research team
- Establish and maintain an AI governance framework that ensures responsible AI practices including bias mitigation, explainability, and safety
- Oversee model risk management and ensure regulatory readiness for AI deployments
Required competencies and certifications
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, or a related field (strongly preferred)
- Significant published research in reputable AI conferences or journals such as NeurIPS, ICML, ACL, or CVPR
- Deep expertise in large language models (LLMs), transformer architectures, reinforcement learning, model optimization and distillation, and multimodal AI systems
- Strong hands-on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow frameworks
- Proven experience with distributed training and GPU/TPU infrastructure
- Proficiency in developing and managing model deployment pipelines
