Job Title: Chef / Pastry Chef - After School Centre at Serangoon

About Us
We are a nurturing after school centre providing care, enrichment, and nutritious meals for children aged 7-12. All menus are professionally designed by our in-house nutritionist to ensure every meal is balanced and wholesome.
Role Overview
We're looking for a brave, creative, and passionate Chef / Pastry Chef to execute and elevate our nutritionist-designed menus. You'll prepare daily meals and snacks for the children, turning healthy ingredients into food kids genuinely get excited about. This role is perfect for someone who loves the creation of food and isn't afraid to experiment within guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation: Cook/bake daily meals and snacks from scratch based on menus provided by our nutritionist
Creative Execution: Bring creativity and flair to plating and presentation so healthy food appeals to kids. Adapt recipes bravely when needed for taste/texture while keeping nutrition intact
Kitchen Management: Maintain a clean, organized kitchen that meets SFA food hygiene standards
Food Safety: Manage allergens strictly. Keep records for NEA/SFA compliance. Label all ingredients
Collaboration: Provide feedback to our nutritionist on what works well with the children
Engagement: Occasionally run simple baking/cooking activities with the children as part of our enrichment programme
Requirements
Experience: 1+ years as a cook, chef, or baker. Experience cooking for children is a big plus
Certifications: Food Hygiene Certificate required. WSQ certifications preferred
Attributes: Brave in trying new techniques, creative in presentation, and passionate about the creation of food that nourishes kids
Skills: Strong on food safety, allergen awareness, and following recipes precisely while adding your own touch
Others: Patient, cheerful, enjoys being around kids. Able to lift 10-15kg and stand for extended periods
What We Offer
Salary: $2,200 - $3,500/month for full-time, depending on experience. Pro-rated for part-time
Hours: No late nights or weekends. School holidays off unless otherwise agreed
Environment: Small, friendly team. Focus on cooking, not admin/menu planning
