Job Description

Job Summary

Manage full voyage operations and vessel chartering for coal shipments, coordinating with stakeholders to optimize shipping schedules, costs, and freight market insights to support trading decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full voyage operations including vessel scheduling under charter parties, issuing voyage instructions, vessel nomination, and monitoring loading schedules and voyage progress.
  • Arrange vessel chartering and tonnage for coal shipments by communicating and negotiating with shipowners, brokers, and shipping companies to secure suitable vessels and competitive freight rates.
  • Calculate and process hire/freight invoices and settle demurrage/despatch accurately and timely to ensure proper cost handling.
  • Coordinate with the trading department on transportation needs and liaise with shipowners on cargo loading and unloading matters.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with agents, collect port information, and monitor vessel status during port stays and voyages.
  • Liaise with Protection & Indemnity (P&I) Clubs to resolve operational disputes effectively.
  • Track freight market trends and provide actionable freight market insights to support trading and shipment planning decisions.
  • Manage freight contracts and voyage documentation while maintaining daily communication with shipowners and agents.

Required competencies and certifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Maritime, Shipping, Logistics, International Trade, or related fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in vessel chartering, shipping, or maritime logistics, with proven ability to work with shipowners, brokers, or shipping agents in the coal industry.
  • Strong business communication and coordination skills demonstrated by effective business correspondence, negotiation, and collaboration with multiple parties.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously and respond promptly to operational issues under pressure.

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Proficiency in languages relevant to managing Indonesia-related business and liaising with the China office, enhancing communication and coordination.
