Role Description The Cat Interaction Center Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based at Hwa Chong Institution in Singapore. This role involves providing daily care for cats at the center, including feeding, grooming, monitoring health and behavior, and maintaining a clean, safe, and enriching environment. The assistant will facilitate positive interactions between students, staff, and the cats by guiding visitors on appropriate handling, ensuring adherence to safety and welfare guidelines, and supporting educational activities related to animal care and empathy. Responsibilities include observing and reporting any health or behavioral concerns, coordinating with relevant staff or veterinary services when needed, and assisting with record-keeping for each cat. The role also requires collaboration with school staff to integrate the Cat Interaction Center into wider student well-being initiatives and occasionally supporting events or outreach activities that feature the center.

Qualifications

Strong animal care skills, including experience with cat handling, basic grooming, and monitoring animal health and well-being.
Ability to create and maintain a safe, hygienic, and enriched environment for cats and visitors, with attention to cleanliness and safety protocols.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills to guide students and staff in cat interaction, promote empathy, and enforce center guidelines respectfully.
Organizational skills for managing schedules, maintaining records, coordinating visits, and supporting events or programs linked to the Cat Interaction Center.
Demonstrated patience, compassion, and emotional maturity when working with both animals and diverse groups of people, including young learners.
Ability to work on-site in Singapore, collaborate with school staff, and align daily practices with HCI's values and student well-being goals.
Prior experience in animal shelters, veterinary clinics, pet care, or educational settings is an advantage; relevant certifications in animal handling or welfare are beneficial.
