Job Summary
You will read blueprints, take precise measurements, and cut and shape materials to build and install structures such as window frames, doors, staircases, and furniture. You will also inspect and repair carpentry work and construct scaffolding as needed.
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements accurately
- Take measurements and calculate the size and quantity of materials needed for each task
- Cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other materials (e.g., fiberglass) according to specifications
- Build window frames, doors, staircases, and frame buildings using raw or pre-constructed materials
- Lay out floorings, roofings, or drywalls ensuring they are level and properly aligned
- Carve, assemble, and install furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other items at designated locations
- Inspect carpentry work sites and perform repairs or maintenance to maintain quality and safety
- Build scaffolding and other temporary construction structures to support work activities
- Operate electrical and manual carpentry tools and measurement equipment safely and effectively
- Follow safety guidelines consistently during all work activities
- Work night shifts, Sundays, public holidays, and odd hours as required by customer needs
Required competencies and certifications
- Proven experience performing carpentry tasks and handling carpentry materials
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings accurately
- Good physical condition and endurance to perform physically demanding tasks
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and installation methods
