Job Summary
We are looking for a qualified Carpenter to cut, fabricate, and install wooden and other structures according to specifications. You will work in diverse settings to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products.
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements fully
- Take accurate measurements and calculate the size and amount of materials needed for each task
- Cut, shape, and smooth lumber and other materials (e.g., fiberglass) according to measurements
- Build window frames, doors, staircases, and frame buildings using raw materials or pre-constructed items
- Lay out floorings, roofings, or drywalls ensuring they are level and properly aligned
- Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves, and other items, then install them at designated locations
- Inspect work sites and structures to identify repair or maintenance needs and perform necessary fixes
- Build scaffolding and other construction structures to support work activities
- Follow safety guidelines consistently to maintain a safe work environment
- Adapt to work schedules that include night shifts, Sundays, public holidays, and other odd timings based on customer requirements
Required competencies and certifications
- Proven experience as a carpenter demonstrating ability to complete carpentry tasks effectively
- Hands-on experience working with carpentry materials to produce quality results
- Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and installation methods to ensure structural integrity
- Proficient use of electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools such as powered saws, hammers, and rulers
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings accurately
- Good physical condition and endurance to perform physically demanding tasks
