Cargo Control Executive/Specialist
We are looking for a proactive Cargo Control Executive/Specialist for one of our global shipping clients. This person will oversee vessel capacity planning and cargo movement across the global network. The role is responsible for ensuring optimal vessel utilization, aligning commercial demand with operational execution, and maintaining efficient cargo flow while supporting service reliability and cost control. The position will also contribute to leading and developing the Cargo Control team. The ideal candidate would have at least 2-3 years of relevant experience, good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
Key Responsibilities
. Track booking patterns and cargo projections to support optimal vessel capacity usage and loading efficiency.
. Plan and manage mid-term space allocations, ensuring the balance of laden and empty container movements in line with equipment availability.
. Work closely with Commercial, Trade Management, Operations, and Network Planning teams to coordinate cargo routing and vessel loading plans.
. Review cargo flow data, port performance metrics, and loading reports to provide operational insights and support decision-making.
. Handle operational disruptions such as port omissions, schedule changes, or void sailings, and implement cargo recovery or re-routing solutions where necessary.
. Support cost efficiency initiatives by identifying operational improvements and contingency planning measures.
. Provide guidance and supervision to the Cargo Flow team, including coaching, performance management, and participation in hiring activities.
. Contribute to process enhancements, system improvements, and cross-department initiatives aimed at improving cargo flow efficiency.
Requirements
. Diploma or Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience.
. Approximately 3-5years of working experience within the shipping or maritime industry.
. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with good numerical accuracy.
. Good analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and communication skills.
. Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
