Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle Sourcing & Purchasing
- Source used vehicles through auctions, trade-ins, direct purchases, dealers, and other channels.
- Evaluate vehicle condition, history, market demand, and resale value before purchase.
- Negotiate purchase prices to achieve optimal margins and meet budget targets.
Market & Pricing Analysis
- Analyze market trends, competitor pricing, and demand to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Determine target buy prices based on current market conditions, reconditioning costs, and sales potential.
Inventory Management
- Maintain healthy inventory levels aligned with sales forecasts and customer demand.
- Coordinate with sales and operations teams to ensure the right mix of vehicles is available.
- Monitor stock aging and recommend actions to minimize slow-moving inventory.
Vehicle Inspection & Compliance
- Conduct or oversee detailed vehicle inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
- Review vehicle documentation for accuracy, compliance, and legal requirements.
- Coordinate reconditioning and refurbishment requirements prior to resale.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with dealers, auction houses, fleet owners, and other suppliers.
- Work closely with internal teams such as sales, finance, and operations to ensure smooth handovers.
Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate purchase records, pricing data, and inventory documentation.
- Prepare reports on purchasing performance, costs, and margins.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in the automotive industry, with strong exposure to used car purchasing or inventory management.
- Solid knowledge of used vehicle valuation, market pricing, and sourcing channels.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- High attention to detail, particularly in vehicle inspections, documentation, and compliance.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) experience with inventory or fleet management systems is an advantage.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and margins.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to work under pressure.
