As a Captain, Banquet, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional banquet and event experiences. From coordinating service on the floor to guiding the team behind the scenes, you'll be at the centre of every celebration. Working closely with members, guests, and colleagues, you'll help ensure each event runs seamlessly, with thoughtful service and attention to detail that make every occasion truly special.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests warmly and respond promptly to enquiries to ensure a positive guest experience.
  • Liaise with event organisers and assist with briefing banquet staff prior to events to support smooth event execution.
  • Coordinate promptly with banquet staff and relevant departments, including Catering Sales, Kitchen, Housekeeping, and Maintenance, to address guests requests efficiently.
  • Support the training and guidance of new staff and casual workers to ensure consistency in service standards and operating procedures in accordance with the Club's policies.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating par stock of operating supplies such as glassware, beverages, and mise en place to support smooth operations.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of banquet service stations, storerooms, and office areas in accordance with SOP requirements.
  • Assist in monitoring the condition of banquet equipment and report any defects or maintenance issues for follow-up.
  • Adhere to all applicable health, safety, and regulatory requirements at all times.
  • Liaise with the Banquet Executive and Catering Sales Manager on operational incidents or issues that require escalation or follow-up.
  • Provide hands-on support during event preparations, including table setup and basic operation of audio-visual equipment.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Club's products and services, particularly Food & Beverage offerings.
  • Support guest-facing service during events, including food and beverage service and attending to VIP guests when required.
  • Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally and assist with service recovery under guidance where necessary.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and refresher courses as required.
  • Support other operational duties as assigned by the HOD or Management.

Requirements

  • Friendly and approachable with good communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and a hands-on attitude.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of POS systems and cash handling is an advantage.
  • Able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Previous F&B or customer service experience is a bonus, but not a must.
