We currently have an opening for a Capacity Engineer (Data Center) role, to support capacity planning for the Data Center team of our client in Singapore which is a top global investment bank.
Responsibilities:
- Generate weekly reports to analyze DC infrastructure demands in the APAC region.
- Download and analyze the infrastructure demands provided by the Project Manager, and follow up with requestors to rectify them as per the corresponding comments/shortfalls raised.
- Monitor high-risk locations and question discrepancies.
- Assess demands for server additions in data centers, including checking respective data center capacity, tech refresh, installing new servers, and decommissioning old ones.
- Monitor project implementation within designated timelines.
- Track power consumption and physical rack space, including assessing maximum and current capacities for both power and rack space.
- Calculate the record rack space and power consumption values based the demands for each data center location.
- Coordinate equipment placement (EP) to ensure optimal utilization of resources.
- Address defects, ensuring all necessary information, such as justification and associated risks, is provided for approval in each demand.
- Manage decommission reports and ensure accurate data cleanup in the demand central system.
- Generate weekly and monthly reports on data center demands, defects, ad-hoc requests, and project pending fulfillment.
- Compile EP data and convert it into actionable insights for capacity planning.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience in capacity planning, data center operations, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
- Proficiency in project management tools and techniques.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with data center infrastructure and equipment is preferred.
- Proficient on Excel and Pivots
- Knowledge in PHP scripting language will be an advantage
