Job Description

The Business Development Manager plays a key role in driving strategic business development initiatives to support the company's growth objectives across emerging markets. This position is responsible for leading and supporting end-to-end BD activities, including opportunity assessment, market analysis, partnership evaluation, cross-functional alignment, and deal execution. The role also contributes to portfolio strategy development, alliance management, and operational coordination of BD projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead business development projects from initial opportunity assessment through execution, including preliminary screening, market research, business case development, proposal preparation, stakeholder alignment, partner negotiations, technical due diligence support, and agreement review/redlining.
  • Contribute to the development of business development and portfolio strategies through market deep-dives, therapeutic landscape analysis, and identification of growth opportunities.
  • Support internal communication and reporting related to BD projects, including preparation of routine updates for the company OA system and management presentation materials for monthly business reviews.
  • Support alliance management activities and local partnership initiatives to strengthen external collaborations and business relationships.
  • Serve as project manager for BD-related initiatives by coordinating project documentation, maintaining organized records on shared platforms/cloud drives, and ensuring proper project tracking and governance.

Qualifications

  • Fully bilingual with strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Chinese.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in consulting, investment banking, deal advisory/legal, or commercial business development roles.
  • Educational background in Science, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related disciplines.
  • Open-minded and adaptable, with willingness to embrace new technologies, tools, and ways of working, including AI-enabled solutions.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and capable of influencing stakeholders effectively without direct authority.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, organizational, and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Prior experience or track record in pharmaceutical product in-licensing will be an advantage.
  • MBA and/or CFA qualification will be considered an added advantage.
