Key Responsibilities The Business Development Manager's responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing growth strategies and plans with clear metrics to evaluate success.
- Managing and retaining relationships with existing clients.
- Increase client base by identifying and exploring potential new clients.
- Negotiating with stakeholders and drafting business proposals.
- Identifying and mapping business strengths and customer needs.
- Conducting market research to identify new business opportunities and viable income streams.
- Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events to network and promote the company.
- Developing ways to improve the customer experience and build brand loyalty.
- Working with the marketing team to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
- Ensuring all team members represent the company in the best light.
- Presenting business development training and mentoring to business developers and other internal staff.
- Researching and writing business proposals that are persuasive and well-structured.
Education and Certification Requirements
To qualify for the role of Business Development Manager, candidates should ideally have:
- MBA in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a relevant field. An MBA is often preferred.
- Proven working experience of at least 5 years in business development, sales, or a similar management role.
- Experience in customer relationship management.
- Knowledge of the industry and market trends.
- Exceptional negotiation and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce).
- The ability to build rapport and articulate business propositions effectively.
