Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support portfolio management systems and front-office investment workflows within a Portfolio Management & Analytics function.

This role sits within a team of Business Analysts / Product Owners and is responsible for managing trading systems, supporting investment applications, and optimising processes across the trade lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with portfolio managers, IT teams, and external vendors to enhance, implement, and maintain systems that support portfolio management and trade execution.

In addition to delivering system enhancements and projects, the role includes monitoring, analysing, and troubleshooting front-office processes to ensure operational stability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with Portfolio Managers and investment teams to understand business requirements and translate them into clear functional and technical specifications.

  • Act as the bridge between business and technology teams, ensuring alignment between user needs and system capabilities.

  • Apply user-centric and service design principles to improve front-office workflows and system usability.

  • Represent stakeholder interests and influence cross-functional teams toward shared objectives.

2. Systems & Process Implementation

  • Design, test, and implement tools, processes, and system enhancements to support the front-office investment workflow.

  • Partner with in-house IT, Risk, Finance teams, and external vendors to deliver system improvements and upgrades.

  • Support implementation of roadmap initiatives, including new features and system upgrades.

  • Ensure solutions align with operational requirements and long-term platform strategy.

3. Testing & Documentation

  • Develop comprehensive test plans for system upgrades, process enhancements, and product changes.

  • Coordinate and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

  • Ensure defects are properly tracked, prioritised, and resolved.

  • Develop and maintain user guides and system documentation to support ongoing operations and user adoption.

4. Operational Monitoring & Issue Resolution

  • Monitor, analyse, and troubleshoot front-office processes to ensure smooth daily operations.

  • Liaise with IT teams and external service providers to resolve production issues in a timely manner.

  • Identify root causes of recurring issues and recommend process or system improvements.

5. Governance, Risk & Controls

  • Ensure front-office processes meet internal standards for:

    • Data integrity

    • Security

    • Auditability

  • Support compliance with organisational risk and control frameworks.

  • Contribute to process reviews and workflow optimisation initiatives.

6. Vendor & Project Management

  • Manage system implementation projects with vendors and service providers.

  • Coordinate procurement-related and administrative activities where required.

  • Oversee project timelines, milestones, and stakeholder communications.

  • Support change management efforts, including workflow re-engineering and user adoption initiatives.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology, or related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in business analysis or product management roles within asset management, investment management, or financial services.

  • Experience supporting or implementing investment systems.

  • Strong understanding of public markets transaction workflows from front to back office.

  • Familiarity with fixed income and foreign exchange markets is highly desirable.

  • Experience developing test plans and managing UAT cycles.

  • Experience creating and maintaining system documentation and user guides.

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with varying complexity and stakeholder engagement levels.

  • Ability to adapt to evolving business requirements and system constraints.

Essential Technical Knowledge

  • Hands-on knowledge or exposure to investment systems such as:

    • Murex

    • SimCorp Dimension

    • BlackRock Aladdin

    • Charles River

    • Or similar portfolio management and trading platforms

  • Strong understanding of trade lifecycle processes across front, middle, and back office.

  • Experience working with system integrations, data feeds, and workflow automation.
