Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fundamental and quantitative analysis of global metal markets (with potential focus on battery metals, ferrous, or non-ferrous complexes), including supply-demand dynamics, cost curves, and geopolitical factors.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models for company valuation, trade profitability, and asset pricing.
  • Support the creation of market views and investment theses by authoring in-depth research reports on specific metals, industry trends, or counterparties.
  • Build and manage databases tracking key market metrics, price spreads, and global supply-demand balances.
  • Assist in the development and backtesting of quantitative models for risk measurement (e.g., VaR, exposure analysis) and potential trading signals.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of existing trades and investments.
  • Stay abreast of market news, policy changes, and academic/industry research relevant to commodity markets and financial engineering.
  • Present findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to traders, senior management, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Applied Economics, or a related discipline is preferred from a reputable local or international university with a strong academic record will be a distinct advantage.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of proven experience in financial analysis, industry research, or risk management within securities firms, investment banks, private equity, commodity trading houses, or related sectors.
  • Candidates with experience researching commodity markets, particularly metals, are highly preferred. Specific experience in non-ferrous and ferrous metals, or energy will be favorably considered.
  • Proficient in building, maintaining, and auditing complex financial valuation models (DCF, comparables, etc.) and producing in-depth company and industry research reports.
  • Solid data management skills with advanced proficiency in Excel. Experience using tools like Python, R, or SQL to construct and manage supply-demand databases, price spread trackers, and cost curve models is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of the pricing mechanisms of financial products. Conceptual or practical familiarity with risk control systems, Value-at-Risk (VaR) models, and derivative pricing.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (and preferably Mandarin), with the ability to distill complex analysis into clear, actionable insights and compelling reports for diverse audiences, including traders and senior management.
  • Proactive, intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and capable of thriving both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, results-driven trading environment
