Job Description (Duties & Responsibilities)
- Safe and Timely Transport:Drive buses safely along scheduled routes, ensuring passengers reach their destinations on time.
- Vehicle Maintenance:Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections to check bus readiness and report any mechanical issues.
- Passenger Assistance:Help passengers, especially the elderly and disabled, get on and off the bus.
- Safety Compliance:Adhere to all traffic laws, federal/state transit regulations, and employer safety rules.
- Customer Service:Provide information to passengers, answer questions about routes and fares, and maintain cleanliness inside the bus.
- Fare Collection:Collect fares or verify passenger passes/tickets.
- Communication:Report delays, mechanical problems, or accidents to supervisors and keep passengers informed of any changes.
- Reporting:Complete paperwork to document incidents and issues encountered during a shift.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Driver's License: A valid driver's license, such as Class 4 or 4A (for heavy vehicles), is essential.
- Vocational License: A specific Bus Driver's Vocational Licence (BDVL) is required in some regions.
- Clean Driving Record: A history of safe and responsible driving is a must.
- Strong Driving Skills: Ability to drive in busy traffic, adverse weather conditions, and handle unexpected detours.
- Situational Awareness: Excellent concentration and awareness of surroundings at all times.
- Customer Service Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact positively with passengers.
- Patience and Calmness: Ability to remain patient and calm in stressful situations and with difficult passengers.
- Reliability: Punctual and dependable in carrying out duties.
- Physical Fitness: The ability to perform daily duties, including cleaning the bus.
