Bunker Surveyor (Singapore)

We are looking for a Bunker Surveyor to join our BQS team in Singapore

What we do

VPS provides Testing and Inspection services globally to the maritime industry and is the clear market leader in its niche end market. VPS operates on a global basis with services provided through one of its five laboratories which are supported by an international network of commercial and technical advisory teams. The VPS Head Office is in the Netherlands (Barendrecht) with other locations in Singapore, Houston, Fujairah, Shanghai and UK.

The opportunity

You will conduct surveys as nominated by customers in such a manner that it's carried out in time and in accordance with the required rules and regulations and customer-specific instructions.

You will primarily perform the following activities:

• Attend on board vessels to carry out surveys pertaining to bunker fuel.
• Co-ordinate with VPS customers in respect of work schedules and requirements.
• Carry out sampling and measurements
• Prepare survey reports.
• You follow the entire process in accordance with the requirements in the Singapore Standards SS648/SS600 and VPS Code of Practice

Reporting Line & Location

You report to the Manager BQS Singapore with no direct reports

Based in Singapore

What we're looking for

• Experience in the position of bunker surveyor is a clear advantage. A Bunker Surveyor with license issued by MPA is a clear advantage.
• A Marine or Nautical degree will be essential. Examples are Maritime and Offshore Management, Maritime Transportation Management. Or a Certificate of Competency (COC). Fresh graduates are welcome.
• Recent experience within the maritime and/or transport sector and experience with quality inspections is a must
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Good command of the English language in word and writing
• Strong in interpersonal and communication skills
• Due to the nature of the job, we expect you to be prepared to work irregular hours.
• Own transport preferred
