Job Summary

Read blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to assess surfaces and determine the scope of work and materials required. Prepare and paint various surfaces on-site while ensuring high-quality finishes and compliance with workplace safety standards.

Responsibilities

Examine surfaces to determine the type and amount of preparation and painting work required.
Build scaffolding and cover floors, fixtures, and surrounding areas to ensure safe and proper work preparation.
Prepare walls and other surfaces by scraping, sanding, cleaning, and removing old paint.
Fill cracks, holes, and uneven surfaces using plaster or other suitable materials.
Mix paints and other materials to achieve the required colour, texture, and consistency.
Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, caulking guns, and other appropriate tools.
Calculate required materials and project costs when necessary.
Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Perform other painting and related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Able to work flexible hours, including night shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.

Requirements

Relevant experience in painting, preferably in the construction or commercial sector.
Good knowledge of painting materials and the ability to select, mix, and apply them correctly.
Knowledge of surface preparation and construction painting techniques.
Able to use painting tools and equipment such as brushes, rollers, caulking guns, ladders, and scaffolding.
Good manual dexterity and balance, with the ability to work safely at heights.
Physically fit and able to perform manual work.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Able to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
