About the Role:
Brighton College (Singapore) is seeking an inspirational Deputy Head of Preparatory to join our thriving school community from August 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity to provide visionary leadership and shape the future of our Prep School (Years 2 6) as Brighton College (Singapore) continues its journey to become one of the region's leading all-through schools, offering education from Pre-Nursery to Year 13.
What you will be doing:
- To lead and manage the day-to-day operation of the Prep School (Years 2-6).
- To be an ambassador of the school at all times, in school and within the territory, and to lead by example in all areas of school life.
- To support the Head of College in delivering the vision for Brighton College (Singapore) and be a positive, productive and supportive member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- To line manage Heads and teachers within the Prep School.
- To be responsible for the effective performance of all Prep teachers and teaching assistants via a proactive process of staff development.
- To develop staff wellbeing to ensure staff are listened to and their worries and concerns acted upon as far as possible.
- To demonstrate an innovative approach to the development of the Prep School, ensuring the school gains a reputation for providing an outstanding education for its pupils.
- To contribute to the strategic development of the Prep School in line with the aims of the School through the School Evaluation Form and the development and implementation of the Prep School Improvement Plan.
- To take an active role working with the Head of Marketing and Admissions and the Head of College, when recruiting pupils for the Prep School.
- Working with the teaching team to develop a range of innovative and interesting events to help attract new pupils to the school.
- To be responsible for the academic progress of pupils in the Prep School.
- To be responsible for the pastoral welfare of pupils in the Prep School.
- To develop, in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team and Heads, the curriculum for all subject areas taught in the Prep School and ensure staff are led in such a way that outstanding standards are maintained in all areas.
- To evaluate the effectiveness of the planned curriculum and to ensure an appropriate system of assessment and record keeping is maintained by Subject Specialists, Form Teachers and Teaching Assistants.
- To maintain and develop effective relationships with all current and prospective parents.
- To exercise control over the Prep budget.
- This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities, and the successful candidate will be expected to carry out any additional duties reasonably requested by the Head of College.
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree with PGCE or equivalent.
- At least five years teaching experience in prep or primary schools, and will most probably be either a serving Deputy Head or experienced subject leader.
- Enthusiastic and passionate about education with a sound understanding of a Prep School ethos and best practice in pastoral and academic matters;
- Flexible and adaptable to the varied demands of working in a premier school; Able to think strategically as a member of the Senior Leadership Team;
- Exceptional organiser and administrator with the ability to delegate and empower colleagues; Supportive and able to give guidance and leadership to the Prep School teaching staff whilst monitoring and evaluating teams and individuals, ensuring the highest possible standards are achieved.
- A strong understanding of the needs and issues facing all stakeholders within the school community.
- A warm, engaging and approachable personality with pupils, current and prospective parents.
- International school experience (preferred).
- Able to develop and foster teamwork and talented communicator, both orally and in writing.

- An international outlook and understanding of working in diverse environments.
