Position Overview

SCDA is seeking an Associate Director, Brand & Marketing Communications to lead the development and execution of integrated brand and communications strategies across SCDA, Soori, and Ilora.

This senior role combines strategic leadership with creative direction — shaping brand identity, storytelling, and communications across architecture, hospitality, and lifestyle domains. The successful candidate will bring a refined understanding of design and culture, and the ability to translate creative vision into effective and engaging narratives that resonate globally.

Key Responsibilities

Brand Strategy & Positioning

  • Define and refine brand strategies that articulate SCDA's design philosophy and values.
  • Ensure a cohesive visual and verbal identity across all entities and communication platforms.
  • Translate conceptual design ideas into compelling brand narratives and messaging frameworks.

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing and communications plans that strengthen brand awareness and engagement.
  • Oversee media relations and editorial placements within the architecture, design, lifestyle, and luxury sectors.
  • Guide digital and social media strategies to expand brand reach and drive audience interaction.
  • Oversee production of press materials, publications, presentations, and campaign content.

Partnerships & Outreach

  • Identify and manage partnerships, collaborations, and events that enhance the brand's profile and influence.
  • Support exhibitions, launches, and publications that reinforce SCDA's design leadership and cultural relevance.
  • Contribute to client engagement and business development through strong, brand-aligned communication assets.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide strategic direction to the communications function while working closely with creative and design counterparts.
  • Mentor and guide team members; manage external agencies and partners to ensure quality and brand consistency.
  • Oversee budgets, schedules, and performance metrics to evaluate effectiveness and impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • 10 years of experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role, ideally within architecture, design, hospitality, or luxury sectors.
  • Proven track record in brand development, marketing strategy, and communications leadership.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a polished, editorial sensibility.
  • Deep appreciation for design, aesthetics, and cultural nuance.
  • Strategic yet hands-on; able to balance creative direction, strategic insight, and execution.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary and design-oriented teams.
