Job Overview:
We seek a Bioengineer with expertise in designing and developing point-of-care-testing (POCT) diagnostic devices that integrate molecular and biochemical detection technologies.
The successful candidate will work at the intersection of bioengineering, molecular biology, electrical engineering, and microfluidics to create innovative, portable, and user-friendly diagnostic devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop POCT device prototypes integrating molecular diagnostic assays (e.g., CRISPR-Cas, PCR, RPA, LAMP).
- Develop microfluidic and biosensor-based platforms for rapid and accurate disease detection.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate hardware, biosensors, and detection systems.
- Optimize sample processing, nucleic acid extraction, and amplification methods for on-device operation.
- Work with embedded systems to develop automated, portable, and user-friendly diagnostic solutions.
- Perform feasibility testing, validation, and troubleshooting to refine device performance.
- Develop scalable manufacturing protocols for device production and commercialization.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., ISO, FDA, CE) for POCT devices.
- Stay updated with emerging POCT technologies and contribute to intellectual property development.
Qualifications & Skills:
- MSc or PhD in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field.
- Experience in POCT device development, biosensors, or molecular diagnostics platforms.
- Knowledge of microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip systems, lateral flow assays, or electrochemical biosensors.
- Hands-on experience with molecular techniques such as PCR, RPA, CRISPR-based detection, or nucleic acid amplification.
- Proficiency in CAD software, circuit design, and rapid prototyping technologies (3D printing, PCB design, soft lithography, etc.).
- Ability to work with microcontrollers, embedded systems, and hardware integrationfor POCT devices.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in working from R&D to manufacturing scale-up in a commercial setting.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and technical documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in medical device design and regulatory requirements (ISO 13485, FDA, CE).
- Background in optical, electrochemical, or impedance-based biosensors.
- Expertise in fluid dynamics and sample processing automation for POCT devices.
- Industry experience in POCT development, diagnostics, or healthcare technology.
