Technical delivery
- Plan and execute marine ecology baseline surveys: intertidal and subtidal surveys (e.g., corals, seagrass, macroalgae, mangroves, fish, invertebrates, marine mammals/megafauna).
- Be familiar with/experienced in undertaking associated marine and intertidal survey techniques for marine and intertidal flora/fauna: belt/quadrat transects, photo/video transects, UVC, BRUVS, settlement tiles, eDNA/biomonitoring, benthic cover and coral health indices.
- Prepare EIA chapters (biodiversity baseline, impact assessment, significance evaluation) and EMMPs for coastal and marine development projects.
- Develop mitigation and offsetting measures following the mitigation hierarchy contribute to marine and coastal nature-based solution concepting and feasibility.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS or QGIS solid Excel working knowledge of R (or Python) for ecological data analysis.
Project management & coordination
- Plan scopes, budgets, schedules manage field teams/sub-consultants (scientific divers, labs, vessel operators) and HSE.
- Coordinate with engineers, planners, contractors and regulators support stakeholder engagement and permitting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marine biology/Ecology/Environmental Science (or related).
- 3-7 years in marine ecology and biodiversity for infrastructure/coastal projects
Scientific diving experience strongly preferred (e.g., Rescue Diver or higher scientific diver training/logbook). First Aid/O2 provider advantageous. - Comfort working on boats and intertidal sites strong safety culture and methodical risk management.
