Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced BIM Manager to lead, manage, and strategically develop BIM processes across our projects. The ideal candidate will drive BIM implementation at an organisational level, oversee BIM teams, ensure compliance with ISO 19650 standards and project-specific BIM requirements, and champion continuous improvement in digital delivery.

Responsibilities and Duties

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and drive the organisation's BIM strategy, standards, and best practices in alignment with business objectives.
  • Champion the adoption and integration of BIM across all project stages and disciplines.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and workflows to continually enhance digital delivery capabilities.
  • Report on BIM performance metrics, KPIs, and return on investment to senior leadership.

Project Delivery & Coordination

  • Oversee and manage BIM workflows across multiple projects to ensure compliance with ISO 19650 and project-specific BIM requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and ensure adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead model coordination activities, including clash detection, issue resolution, and federated model reviews.
  • Ensure the production and management of BIM models and shop drawings comply with BIM Information Requirements.
  • Manage model version control, data integrity, and Common Data Environment (CDE) protocols.

Team Management & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and manage BIM Coordinators and BIM Technicians, setting clear objectives and conducting performance reviews.
  • Identify skills gaps and coordinate training programmes to upskill internal teams on BIM tools, standards, and processes.
  • Allocate BIM resources across projects based on scope, complexity, and delivery timelines.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors on all BIM-related matters.
  • Lead client meetings to define BIM project scope, deliverables, and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with project managers, design leads, and construction teams to integrate BIM into overall project delivery.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Establish and enforce BIM quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Conduct regular audits of BIM deliverables to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, including the Code of Practice for BIM, and ensure organisational compliance.

Required Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive BIM experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Advanced proficiency in BIM modelling software such as Revit, ArchiCAD, OpenBuildings, and OpenRoads.
  • Extensive experience using BIM collaboration platforms including BIM Collaborate Pro, ProjectWise, and BIMcollab.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 19650 standards, BIM Information Requirements, and Common Data Environment (CDE) management.
  • Strong understanding of the industry Code of Practice for BIM and its practical application.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing BIM Execution Plans, standards, and organisational BIM strategies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading BIM coordination workflows, including clash detection, issue resolution, and multi-discipline model management.
  • Experience managing and mentoring BIM teams.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Professional BIM certification (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional, buildingSMART certification).
  • Experience with data analytics, automation scripting (Dynamo, Python, Grasshopper), or digital twin technologies.
  • Familiarity with GIS integration and asset information management.
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or multi-disciplinary projects.
