Job Summary
The BIM Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating BIM models across multiple disciplines to ensure compliance with project BIM requirements, BIM Execution Plan (BEP), and client standards. The role supports BIM implementation, model coordination, quality control, and BIM submissions throughout the project lifecycle.
Roles & Responsibilities
1. BIM Coordination & Management
- Coordinate BIM models among various disciplines, including Civil, Structural, and M&E teams.
- Ensure BIM models are developed in accordance with the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) and project BIM standards.
- Monitor BIM model development progress and ensure deliverables are submitted on schedule.
2. Model Integration & Federated Model
- Manage and maintain federated BIM models for coordination and submission purposes.
- Ensure models from different disciplines are properly integrated and aligned.
- Support the preparation of combined coordination models for internal and consultant review.
3. Clash Detection & Model Review
- Perform clash detection and model review using BIM coordination software.
- Identify design conflicts and coordinate with relevant disciplines to resolve clashes.
- Prepare clash detection reports and coordination summaries.
4. BIM Standards & Quality Control
- Ensure BIM models comply with project BIM standards, modelling guidelines, and naming conventions.
- Perform model QA/QC checks prior to submission.
- Ensure models contain the required parameters, metadata, and asset information.
5. BIM Submission & Deliverables
- Coordinate and prepare BIM deliverables and model submissions in accordance with project requirements.
- Ensure submissions comply with client BIM requirements and submission schedules.
- Support the BIM Manager in preparing monthly BIM progress reports and coordination updates.
6. CDE Management
- Manage BIM models and documentation within the Common Data Environment (CDE) such as ProjectWise.
- Ensure proper file naming, revision control, and document management procedures are followed.
- Monitor BIM files uploaded by different disciplines and maintain proper folder structures.
7. Team Coordination
- Provide guidance and technical support to BIM Modellers.
- Review and verify modelling work before submission.
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, and consultants on BIM-related issues.
8. Meetings & Reporting
- Attend BIM coordination meetings with consultants, engineers, and project stakeholders.
- Present BIM coordination issues and progress updates during meetings.
- Prepare BIM coordination reports and meeting inputs.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Architecture, BIM, or related discipline.
- Minimum 4-7 years of BIM experience in construction or infrastructure projects.
- At least 2-3 years of experience in BIM coordination roles is preferred.
- Experience working on large infrastructure or civil engineering projects will be an advantage.
