Job Description

SUMMARY:

At Oak & Ember, we're looking for a passionate Barista that has a strong understanding of coffee preparation and customer service, consistently delivering high-quality beverages with precision and care. You'll be responsible for maintaining beverage standards, ensuring smooth daily bar operations, and creating a warm, welcoming experience for every guest.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations & Quality Control

- Oversee daily bar operations to ensure all beverages meet recipe standards

- Manage bar inventory, ordering, and stock control for smooth daily operations

- Responsible for daily calibration of espresso machines, grinders, and filter equipment

- Monitor and adjust related machines to maintain taste consistency and quality drinks

- Ensure a clean, safe & organized work environment in compliance with hygiene & safety standards

- Oversee bar equipment maintenance, troubleshoot issues and liaise with service providers for

repairs as needed

Training & Development

- Train and coach team members on beverage preparation, including espresso extraction, milk

texturing, latte art, and workflow management

- Serve as a mentor and role model for baristas, demonstrating best practices and fostering a

culture of continuous learning

- Review bar workflows, identify improvement opportunities, standard operation procedures and

other training materials

Customer Experience

- Handle customer feedback and resolve beverage related issues promptly and courteously

- Ensure a positive customer experience through friendly interaction and professional service

- Maintain composure and deliver quality services even during high volume and fast-paced periods

Collaboration & Menu Development

- Support restaurant operations and perform any ad-hoc duties as assigned by superior

- Work with management on beverage menu planning, seasonal specials and new drink concepts

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years experience working as a barista in specialty coffee environment, with at least 2 - 3 years in a supervisory/training role

  • Strong knowledge of coffee and equipment calibration (espresso machines, grinders, filters, etc)

  • Customer-service oriented, with a positive attitude and ability to handle a fast-paced environment

  • Time-management skills, strong attention to detail and consistency

  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays as required
