Bank Application Manager

Role Overview

The Bank Application Manager will be responsible for the delivery and operational management of the business applications portfolio. The role is accountable for ensuring that technology solutions effectively support business objectives, regulatory requirements and operational needs, while maintaining high standards of application stability, security and service excellence. The successful candidate will serve as a strategic partner to business stakeholders, driving application modernisation, technology transformation and continuous improvement across the Bank's application landscape. In addition, the role requires the ability to translate technology strategy into scalable solutions, leading the design, development and delivery of applications and platforms while promoting engineering excellence, solution quality and effective execution across the technology environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Business Partnership

• Define and execute the roadmap for the Bank's business applications portfolio.
• Partner with business stakeholders to deliver technology solutions that support the Bank's strategic objectives.
• Lead business analysis activities to translate business requirements into scalable, fit-for-purpose technology solutions.
• Drive application modernisation, automation and digital transformation initiatives.
• Provide solution architecture oversight to ensure technology designs align with enterprise architecture, security standards and long-term business objectives.

Application Delivery & Change Management

• Lead the delivery of application enhancements, regulatory initiatives and transformation programmes.
• Manage end-to-end programme and project delivery, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and in accordance with agreed business outcomes.
• Ensure effective governance across project delivery, change management, testing and release activities.
• Manage technology vendors, service providers and system integrators.

Application Operations & Service Excellence

• Oversee the stability, performance and availability of business applications.
• Drive incident, problem and service management to achieve operational excellence.
• Establish and maintain robust testing and quality assurance practices to ensure system reliability, performance and compliance with business and regulatory requirements.
• Continuously improve application resilience, support processes and service quality.

Risk, Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with regulatory, security and technology governance requirements.
• Manage technology risks, audits and remediation activities.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Information Security and Internal Audit teams.

Leadership & Talent Development

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of application and technology professionals.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation and continuous learning.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 15 years of experience in banking technology, including application delivery, application management and technology leadership.
• Strong knowledge of banking applications and domains such as digital banking, lending, payments, finance, risk and regulatory reporting.
• Proven track record leading large-scale technology delivery and transformation programmes.
• Experience managing application portfolios, vendors and outsourced service providers.
• Strong understanding of technology governance, operational risk, cybersecurity and regulatory requirements within the banking industry.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience in a digital bank, wholesale bank or corporate banking environment would be advantageous.
