Backup Infrastructure Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Backup Infrastructure Engineer with strong expertise in Veritas NetBackup to manage and support enterprise backup environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with NetBackup (10.x), Data Domain systems, tape libraries, and SAN infrastructure, along with exposure to cloud backup solutions such as Azure Recovery Services Vault. This role requires a proactive individual who can ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of backup systems while delivering excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

. Administer and support Veritas NetBackup Master and Media Servers in enterprise environments.

. Manage and maintain NetBackup Media Appliances and backup repositories.

. Configure and support Data Domain systems (DD9300, DD9400, DD6900).

. Operate and maintain tape backup infrastructure, including IBM TS4300 libraries.

. Manage and support cloud backup solutions using Azure Recovery Services Vault via the Microsoft Azure Portal.

. Configure and administer SAN switches (IBM 24/48 Port) and troubleshoot storage connectivity issues.

. Monitor backup jobs, resolve failures, and ensure backup success rates meet SLA requirements.

. Troubleshoot complex issues across backup, storage, tape, and SAN environments.

. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to resolve critical incidents.

. Follow ITIL processes including incident, change, and problem management.

. Participate in on-call support and handle escalations effectively.

. Generate operational reports and provide insights for continuous improvement.

Requirement

. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, STEM, or a related field.

. 5-10 years of experience in backup and storage administration.

. Strong hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup (10.x).

. Experience with Data Domain storage systems and deduplication technologies.

. Knowledge of tape libraries and backup operations.

. Experience working in Unix, Linux, and Windows environments.

. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across backup and storage infrastructure.

. Experience managing large-scale enterprise backup environments.

. Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.

. Exposure to Azure backup and disaster recovery services.

. Experience with SAN switch configuration and administration.

. Familiarity with scripting and automation for backup operations.

. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
