Backup Administrator

Responsibilities:

• Manage, monitor, and maintain enterprise backup solutions
• Perform daily backup checks,troubleshoot failures, and ensure successful completion of backup jobs.
• Plan and execute restoration procedures as required, ensuring data integrity and timely recovery.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, database, and application teams to meet backup and recovery requirements.
• Manage backup schedules, retention policies, and capacity planning.
• Implement and document backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Maintain accurate backup documentation, including job statuses, configurations, and change management logs.
• Participate in audits and ensure compliance with data protection and retention policies.
• Provide on-call support during off-hours, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in backup and recovery.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Min 5 years of experience as a Backup Administrator or in a similar role.
• Hands-on experience with one or more major backup tools (e.g., Veritas NetBackup, IBM Spectrum Protect, Commvault, Veeam).
• Strong knowledge of backup methodologies (full, incremental, differential), retention policies, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Familiarity with SAN/NAS storage and cloud backup integration (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Solid understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux/Unix).
• Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a global team environment.
