RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position is for Office of Integrated Information Technology Services (IITS).
- Coordinate with both internal (researchers, SMU offices) and external stakeholders (external data owners, government agencies) to establish strategic research data infrastructures including data sharing platform and respiratory platform, and support faculty's use of the infrastructures throughout research project lifecycle.
- Data Processing & Transformation: Perform data preparation tasks such as anonymization, cleaning, transformation, and formatting to ensure data quality and usability for research purposes.
- Oversee the daily operations and data governance of research platforms. Responsibilities include managing user registration, access control, data transfers, data merging, and handling output download requests in compliance with data policies.
- Work across teams to resolve technical issues, and provide end-user support through training sessions, technical documentation, and hands-on guidance.
- Working with IITS IT policy and security team to implement governance framework and security measures for research infrastructure.
- Monitor platform usage and manage monthly billing
- Any other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Data Science, or a related IT field.
- Minimum 5 to 7 Years of experience working in a technical role involving database administration and data workflow management, with ability to design and implement efficient processes.
- Strong skills in data analysis and transformation, including data cleaning, anonymization, and preparation.
- Familiarity with data governance policies and data privacy regulations is preferred.
- Strong Coordination and Communication Skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across SMU teams and the external stakeholders.
- Strong technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, with confidence in delivering frontline support to faculty members, researchers, and other SMU offices.
- High Attention to Detail and Organization to manage workflows, and ensure timely task completion.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Able to convey technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Independent, proactive, positive attitude. An enthusiastic and motivated team player with a strong sense of ownership.
