Job Description

The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time. Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan's leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.

Role Summary

The People Advisor provides people advisory, recruitment and employee relations support for assigned business areas. The role works independently within established policies and governance standards, supporting managers on day-to-day people matters, hiring needs, employee lifecycle activities and People Function initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

· Stakeholder Management: Build trusted relationships with senior leadership, people managers and employees to understand business and employee needs, establish credibility as a People Advisor.

· People Advisory: Partner with managers and employees to provide practical, business-aligned people advice across HR policies, performance, conduct, engagement, workforce movement and employee lifecycle matters, strengthening manager capability, employee experience and risk-aware decision-making.

· Recruitment: Partner with hiring managers to translate workforce needs into effective hiring plans, managing assigned recruitment activities from role intake to offer while driving quality of hire, sourcing effectiveness, candidate experience, stakeholder alignment and governance.

· Employee Relations: Support routine to moderately complex ER matters, conduct preliminary fact-finding, document key considerations and escalate sensitive or high-risk cases appropriately.

· Performance and Talent: Support the end-to-end performance cycle, calibration and talent review processes for assigned business areas, including guiding managers on timelines, standards and documentation; preparing relevant inputs and insights; facilitating fair and consistent discussions; and following through on agreed outcomes, development actions and succession-related priorities.

· AI, Data and HR Technology Enablement: Use HR systems, data and AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve productivity, generate people insights, support documentation and strengthen decision-making, while ensuring confidentiality, data governance and appropriate human oversight in people-related matters.

Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or a related discipline.

· At least 7 years of relevant HR generalist, business partnering experience with a focus on recruitment and employee relations.

· Sound judgement, with the ability to balance business needs, employee experience, policy requirements and risk.

· Strong stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills.

· Working knowledge and practical application of HR systems, data and AI-enabled tools, with strong governance discipline.
