Job Description

The Internal Auditor role supports the Bank's assurance function by providing independent assessments of risk management, controls, and governance processes across Group Retail and Group Compliance. The role contributes to strengthening internal controls and ensuring compliance with regulatory and policy requirements across head office and regional operations.

Audit Planning & Execution

  • Participate in global, thematic, and business portfolio audits covering head office functions, regional subsidiaries, and overseas branches.
  • Plan, organize, execute, and conclude internal audit assignments in accordance with established audit methodologies.
  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of key risks, internal controls, and governance processes.

Risk & Control Assessment

  • Evaluate business, operational, regulatory, and compliance risks within consumer banking and related functions.
  • Review the design and operating effectiveness of controls and identify gaps or improvement opportunities.
  • Provide practical, business-focused recommendations to enhance risk management practices.

Regulatory & Compliance Coverage

  • Perform audits related to AML frameworks, compliance programs, and conduct risk management.
  • Assess adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies governing retail banking operations.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving regulatory expectations impacting consumer banking and compliance.

Reporting & Issue Management

  • Document audit observations, root causes, and risk implications clearly and accurately.
  • Track audit issues and support timely resolution and remediation by business units.
  • Support follow-up reviews to validate the effectiveness of corrective actions.

Data & Analytical Support

  • Apply data analytics techniques to support audit testing and risk identification, where applicable.
  • Use analytical approaches to identify trends, anomalies, and emerging risk areas.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Recognized degree with 68 years of relevant experience in auditing firms or financial institutions.
  • Professional certifications such as CIA, CFA, ACAMS, or CPA are advantageous.
  • Strong experience in risk and control management within retail banking and compliance environments.
  • Ability to adapt to change and perform effectively in a fast-paced and diverse environment.
