Job Description
The Business Analyst will sit at the intersection of technology, quantitative strategy, and front-office investment teams. This role is responsible for driving the analysis, design, and optimization of technology solutions supporting the end-to-end investment lifecycle—from ideation and research, portfolio management, and order generation through to trade execution and pre-trade compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Front-Office Business Analysis & Solution Architecture
- Partner directly with Portfolio Managers, Research Analysts, Traders, and Risk Managers to gather, refine, and document business and technical requirements.
- Translate complex investment strategies, asset-class workflows (Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-Asset, Derivatives), and quantitative models into clear functional specifications, user stories, and process flows.
- Drive the functional enhancement and integration of front-office platforms, including Order Management Systems (OMS), Execution Management Systems (EMS), and Portfolio Management Systems (PMS) (e.g., Aladdin, Charles River, Bloomberg AIM, SimCorp Dimension).
2. End-to-End Investment Lifecycle Optimization
- Analyze and optimize workflows across the full front-to-mid office spectrum:
- Pre-Trade: Alpha generation, quantitative research integration, portfolio rebalancing, and pre-trade compliance checks.
- Trade Execution: Order generation, staging, algorithmic execution, and transaction cost analysis (TCA).
- Post-Trade Handshake: Trade matching, allocations, and seamless data flow into middle-office risk and accounting engines.
3. Delivery & Project Management
- Lead agile delivery workstreams, managing sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) execution for key front-office strategic initiatives.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, internal development teams, and external vendor partners.
- Manage project scope, key milestones, regulatory compliance alignment, and change management protocols.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 5–8 years of deep, hands-on domain knowledge of the front-to-middle office investment lifecycle across traditional and alternative asset classes.
- Strong familiarity with leading enterprise buy-side platforms (e.g., BlackRock Aladdin, Charles River Development (CRD), SimCorp, Bloomberg AIM).
- Functional understanding of financial instruments: Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Money Market, and OTC Derivatives.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills—ability to hold high-conviction discussions with senior Portfolio Managers and quantitative teams.
- Strong analytical mindset with a track record of problem-solving under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between complex quantitative/investment concepts and technical implementation.
