Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automation Tester (Java) to support multiple delivery teams by designing, developing, and maintaining robust automation frameworks that enhance software quality and accelerate delivery through CI/CD-driven engineering practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on automation expertise, a solid understanding of DevOps methodologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively across Agile project squads.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks and reusable automation components.
- Develop and execute automated test scripts covering functional, regression, integration, and API testing across multiple applications and projects.
- Perform API automation testing for RESTful services and validate backend integrations.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
- Collaborate closely with developers, Business Analysts, DevOps engineers, and product owners to ensure requirements are testable and quality standards are met.
- Conduct test planning activities including test case design, test data preparation, defect triage, and root cause analysis.
- Support non-functional validation activities including reliability and basic performance checks where required.
- Maintain automation documentation including test coverage, execution reporting, and defect tracking.
- Promote QA best practices and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across project teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of software testing experience with strong focus on automation testing.
- Strong programming and scripting expertise in Java.
- Hands-on experience with automation frameworks and tools including:
- Selenium WebDriver (UI Automation)
- TestNG or JUnit
- Cucumber (BDD) Advantageous
- Strong experience in API automation and testing using tools such as Rest Assured, Postman, or SOAP UI.
- Solid understanding of SDLC/STLC methodologies, test design techniques, and defect lifecycle management.
- Experience working within Agile or Scrum delivery environments.
DevOps & Cloud-Native Exposure (Preferred)
- Experience integrating automation testing within CI/CD pipelines.
- Exposure to cloud-native and containerized environments including:
- Kubernetes
- OpenShift
- Docker Enterprise
- Cloud Foundry
- Familiarity with build and dependency tools such as Maven or Gradle.
- Experience using version control systems such as Git.
- Exposure to monitoring and logging tools such as Kibana, Splunk, or Grafana for debugging automation failures.
Nice to Have
- Mobile automation experience using Appium.
- Exposure to performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling.
- Experience within Banking or Financial Services environments preferred.
