Automation Engineer

We are seeking an Automation Engineer to support the design, implementation, commissioning and maintenance of process automation systems within a manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining automation solutions, troubleshooting control systems and supporting automation projects from design through commissioning and operational handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, implement and maintain automation and process control systems.
• Configure and troubleshoot Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS), including control modules, equipment modules, phases, recipes, alarms and operator graphics.
• Develop and modify control strategies, sequences and automation logic based on process and operational requirements.
• Support automation system installation, testing, commissioning and qualification activities.
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning and system start-up.
• Troubleshoot automation, instrumentation, communication and control system issues to minimise manufacturing downtime.
• Support integration between DeltaV and other systems including PLCs, SCADA, MES, historians, equipment skids and third-party systems.
• Review automation design documentation including Functional Specifications, control narratives, I/O lists, P&IDs and system architecture.
• Support hardware and software upgrades, system migrations and automation improvement projects.
• Implement automation changes through established change control procedures.
• Support preventive maintenance, system backups, disaster recovery and lifecycle management activities.
• Work closely with Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Validation, Quality, IT and equipment vendors.
• Ensure automation systems comply with site engineering standards, cybersecurity requirements and applicable GMP requirements where relevant.
• Provide technical support and automation expertise during investigations and root-cause analysis.
