about the job

As an Associate Underwriter, you will step into a professional role focused on the technical evaluation of individual risks. You will be working on Facultative Reinsurance, which involves the detailed assessment of specific, high-value risks across all lines of business, including Property, Engineering, Marine, and Liability.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Underwriting Support: Reviewing statistical data and analyzing contract wordings (slips) to ensure accuracy in the risk assessment process.

• Data Processing: Entering and managing technical business information within internal systems to maintain high-quality data integrity.

• Research & Reporting: Extracting key observations from reports and conducting basic research to support the underwriting team.

• Statistical Compilation: Assisting in the preparation of underwriting reports, including reinsured and insurer statistics categorized by underwriting year.

• Ad-hoc Projects: Participating in various projects as assigned to improve departmental operations and data analysis.

• Experience: This role is ideally suited for entry-level candidates or junior professionals with up to 2 years of experience in the insurance or financial services sector.

• Educational Background: A University Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Actuarial Science, Finance, Mathematics, or Engineering).

• Technical Savvy: Strong working knowledge of MS Excel (pivot tables and formulas), PowerPoint, and Word.

• Analytical Mindset: Meticulous attention to detail and a natural comfort with numbers. An interest in or basic understanding of business intelligence tools is a distinct advantage.

• Communication: Effective collaborator with the ability to articulate technical findings clearly and professionally.
