Job Purpose

Support the research, due diligence, selection and ongoing monitoring of external fund managers, with a primary focus on alternative investment strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support qualitative and quantitative due diligence on prospective and existing fund managers.
  • Analyse fund performance, risk, exposures, portfolio construction and positioning.
  • Review manager materials, performance reports, investor letters and due diligence documentation.
  • Participate in manager meetings and calls and prepare concise investment notes and follow-up analysis.
  • Support the preparation of materials and recommendations for Investment Committee review.
  • Monitor approved funds for material performance, portfolio, personnel and organisational developments.
  • Support fund onboarding and ongoing maintenance of the approved product list.
  • Maintain fund performance data, manager information and due diligence records.
  • Screen and compare new managers and strategies for potential inclusion on the fund shelf.
  • Support internal fund-related research, performance updates and materials for Relationship Managers.

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in investments, asset management, fund research, wealth management, consulting or a related analytical role. Strong candidates with less direct fund experience will also be considered.
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability, with an interest in understanding investment performance and risk.
  • Comfortable working with data in Excel and able to draw sensible conclusions from quantitative information.
  • Ability to read complex investment materials, identify the important issues and ask good questions.
  • Clear and concise written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with investment and performance data.
  • Genuine interest in markets, investment strategies and external manager research.
  • Prior knowledge of hedge funds or alternative investments is preferred but not essential; the role will provide significant opportunity to develop this expertise.
  • Comfortable using AI tools to support research, analysis and workflow efficiency, with the judgement to validate outputs and use them appropriately.
  • CFA, CAIA or similar qualification is preferred.
