Job Description

Singlife is the exclusive insurance provider for the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs and Public Officers Group Insurance Scheme. Singlife is also an official signatory of the United Nations Principles for Sustainable Insurance and the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment, affirming its commitment to finding a better way to sustainability.

The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time.

Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan's leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.

Purpose of the Role:

  • Support the growth and profitability of Singlife's Employee Benefits business through new business development, relationship management, and portfolio support activities.
  • The role focuses on supporting new business acquisition, participating in tenders and RFPs, managing assigned client and intermediary relationships, and working closely with internal stakeholders to deliver competitive, sustainable, and compliant Employee Benefits solutions. The Associate contributes to portfolio performance, service delivery, and business initiatives while ensuring adherence to Singlife's governance and regulatory standards.

Role Attributes:

  • Supports new business development and acquisition for Employee Benefits portfolios
  • Contributes to client servicing, renewals, and portfolio management
  • Exposure to brokers, consultants, affinity portfolios, and direct corporate clients
  • This role is subject to assigned data governance and compliance responsibilities, as applicable

Key Responsibilities:

Financial

  • Support achievement of new business and portfolio growth targets
  • Contribute to portfolio profitability through disciplined pricing and claims monitoring
  • Support timely premium collection and policy administration processes

Non-Financial

Business Development & Relationship Management

  • Develop and support relationships with corporate clients, brokers, and affinity partners
  • Support new business initiatives, pipeline development, and market expansion efforts
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations, benefit proposals, and technical clarifications
  • Participate in tenders and Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for corporate accounts

Product & Portfolio Support

  • Support the design, pricing, positioning, and enhancement of Employee Benefits and Group Insurance products
  • Collaborate with Underwriting and Actuarial teams to ensure competitive and sustainable benefit structures
  • Monitor portfolio performance, claims experience, and loss ratios, recommending corrective actions where required

Operations & Service Delivery

  • Liaise with Operations, Claims, and Provider Management teams to ensure smooth onboarding and servicing
  • Monitor service delivery standards and support adherence to agreed service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Address client or intermediary queries and support issue resolution in a timely manner

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure all business activities comply with internal policies, MAS regulations, and Singlife governance standards
  • Support audit, risk, and compliance reviews relating to Group Insurance and Employee Benefits
  • Ensure proper documentation, data accuracy, and audit readiness

Key Decision within the Team

  • Operates within agreed underwriting, pricing, and authority limits
  • Escalates deviations, risks, or exceptions in accordance with internal guidelines

Requirements:

Experience

  • 3–5 years experience in Employee Benefits, Group Insurance, or related insurance roles
  • Experience supporting brokers, consultants, or direct corporate clients preferred
  1. Capability
  • Strong understanding of group insurance and employee benefits structures
  • Good interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
  • Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving abilities

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related discipline
  • Diploma holders with relevant insurance experience may be considered
  • CMFAS modules and Certificate in Health Insurance will be an advantage
