Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic junior lawyer with 2-3 years of experience to join our Banking & Finance team, based in Singapore. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work closely with esteemed Partners and , as well as the broader Partner group. The team specialises in traditional bank lending, leveraged and structured finance, and complex restructurings, with significant expertise in cross-jurisdictional transactions across Asia and EMEA, while also advising financial institutions and corporate borrowers on structured finance, leveraged finance, and restructuring matters, drawing on experience from major financial hubs globally.

In this position, your responsibilities will include conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, assisting with negotiations, and engaging clients directly. You will also contribute to business development initiatives focused on banking and finance transactions. Our clients include private credit funds, financial institutions, corporate borrowers, and private equity sponsors, who rely on our expertise to navigate intricate financing arrangements and banking regulations.

Applicant Criteria for the Position:

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A recognised legal qualification in a common law jurisdiction, paired with a minimum of 1-2 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm that informs up to three years tenure in practice.
  • Proven familiarity with, and experience advising on, banking and finance law, particularly in relation to traditional lending, leveraged finance, and structured finance.
  • Documented experience working on PRC transactions and fluency in business Mandarin is a must.
  • Robust understanding of corporate and commercial transactions and projects, particularly in relation to financing and restructuring.
  • Superior drafting, analytical, communication, and research capabilities that contribute to precision in legal deliverables.
  • Highly commercial and practical, with the ability to focus on issues that truly matter to our clients.
  • A client-service driven mindset with the ability to cultivate and sustain strong client relationships.
  • Collaborative spirit and adeptness to forge enabling internal professional relationships within a global setting.
  • Innovative enthusiasm for business development activities, including strategising client presentations and relations management.
  • An agile approach, adaptable to diverse legal challenges and task executions.
  • Effective project management skills facilitating the delivery of multiple and concurrent transactions and assignments.
  • Experience coordinating and managing local counsel across the APAC region on transactions and projects.
  • Experience using AI tools in the delivery of legal services.
