The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time.

Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan's leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.

Key Responsibilities:

Architecture (8 months)

• System architecture for managing insurance sales and agency operations
• Cloud-native approaches, such as microservices, serverless architecture, and containerization using Docker or Kubernetes
• Security measures like identity and access Management (IAM), encryption, and zero trust frameworks
• Implementation of CI/CD pipelines
• Provision of digital services
• Front-end development and UI/UX design
• Utilization of agile methodologies for development
• API creation and management, including REST, GraphQL, OpenAPI/Swagger, and use of API management platforms
• Integration with legacy systems through ESB (Enterprise Service Bus) and EAI (Enterprise Application Integration)

Data Utilization (4 months)

• AI platform, data platform
• Research on data management and data preparation methods for AI utilization
• Design of data lakes and DWH (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, etc.)
• Data governance (quality control, master data management)
• Distributed processing technologies (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka)
• Stream data processing
• Statistical analysis and data visualization (Tableau, PowerBI, Python libraries, etc.)
• Insurance industry-specific analysis examples (risk assessment, customer analysis, fraud detection, etc.)
