You will be part of the Group Regulatory Compliance team responsible for driving and implementing the Compliance Risk Management Framework and applicable compliance requirements across all Great Eastern (GE) entities. In this role, you will support business units in effectively managing regulatory compliance risks and meeting their obligations under relevant laws, regulations, industry standards and Group requirements.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Provide timely, accurate and practical regulatory compliance advice to business units. Participate in new initiatives and projects to understand business needs and concerns, identify relevant compliance considerations, and recommend appropriate solutions that address regulatory, industry and Group requirements.
- Provide oversight, guidance and support to GE entities on general compliance matters and Group-wide initiatives, including the localisation and implementation of Group policies, standards and guidelines, where required.
- Liaise and collaborate with the parent company, providing the necessary information and support to facilitate its Group-level oversight of GE entities.
- Review products, marketing materials and related documentation to assess compliance with applicable regulatory and industry requirements, as well as the Company's policies.
- Partner with business units to conduct regulatory gap assessments and periodic reviews; identify compliance gaps and remediation measures; and monitor action plans through to timely and effective closure.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders on matters relating to the Enterprise Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (eGRC) platform, including the implementation of system enhancements and the provision of ongoing support to GE entities.
- Provide oversight, compliance advice and training to business units on key regulatory requirements, including FATCA/CRS, insider trading requirements and the Volcker Rule.
- Conduct risk-based compliance assurance reviews of business processes to identify control or compliance gaps, escalate significant issues and risks promptly, and work with business units to implement timely and effective remedial actions.
- Coordinate the annual Group-wide Attestation exercises in collaboration with relevant stakeholders and GE entities.
- Support the accurate and timely preparation of meeting papers, management reports, presentation materials and other relevant documentation, as required.
- Undertake ad hoc assignments and projects as directed by the immediate supervisor and/or Head of Group Regulatory Compliance.
- Hold a bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Insurance, Law, Finance, or a related discipline;
- Have at least 6 years of relevant experience in regulatory compliance, internal audit and/or legal functions within the insurance or financial services sector;
- Possess strong knowledge of regulatory and industry requirements applicable to the insurance and financial services sector such as Insurance Act, Financial Advisers Act, Financial Holding Companies Act and their subsidiary legislation, MAS Notices and Guidelines and relevant requirements issued by the Life Insurance Association (LIA)/General Insurance Association (GIA);
- Possess the ability to interpret regulatory requirements and provide sound and practical compliance advice;
- Have a good understanding of the insurance industry, its business activities and operational processes;
- Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently with minimum supervision;
- Meticulous and possess strong analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills;
- Possess strong communication, report-writing and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at various levels; and
- Able to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work within demanding timelines.
