Job Purpose
You are required to provide underwriting support within the risk management framework of GELS prescribed guidelines, for individual product lines (especially high net worth products).
The Job
- Provide underwriting due diligence on new applications, within the prescribed guidelines by GELS and Reinsurance partners
- Identify risks and apply best underwriting practices in line with the industry standard
- Provide competitive, yet risk appropriate underwriting advice and market leading underwriting services
- Provide critical liaison and build strong business relationship with distribution channels (Agency, Bancassurance & Brokers), Group Risk Management, Products, Actuarial, Reinsurers, etc.
- Proactively seek for HNW process improvement and instill a culture of customer first approach
- Ensure timely and adequate support for business, including training for distribution channels
- Support in the reviewing and updating of underwriting guidelines for High Net Worth products
- Project management, e.g. review & streamline work processes to support business operations, prepare SOPs, review forms etc.
- Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company
- Highlights any potential concerns/ risks and proactively shares best risk management practices
Our Requirements
- Degree with at least 8 years of solid experience in underwriting Life, Disability, Critical Illness, Accident and Health risks
- Prior experience of HNW underwriting is preferred
- Previous exposure to post-issue underwriting and post-claims underwriting is preferred
- Leadership ability, team player, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, problem solving skills and business acumen
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork
- Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes
