Role Description
This is a part-time on-site role for an Assistant Trainer (Special Needs) at A Kind Place. The Assistant Trainer will be responsible for supporting special needs programmes developed collaboratively by psychologists, counsellors, and special needs trainers. The role involves providing inclusive and empowering support to individuals with special needs.
The Assistant Trainer provides support to main trainers in assigned classes. While all training materials are provided, the Assistant Trainer is expected to prepare thoroughly to understand learning objectives, key concepts, and the AKP training delivery approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Before Class:
Review provided materials prior to the class to fully understand the learning objectives (LOs), key concepts, and delivery approach.
Participate in before-class briefings with the main trainer to review the learning objectives and delivery approach.
Set up the class environment, ensuring all materials and equipment are prepared and accessible.
During Class:
Assist in delivering activities, supporting small groups under the main trainers guidance and ensuring active engagement and inclusive participation of the learners.
Monitor learners well-being and behaviour, promptly alerting the main trainer of any concerns.
Handle logistics such as attendance tracking and managing the flow of activities.
After Class:
Help organise, store, and maintain teaching materials for future use.
Participate in after-class debrief meetings to discuss outcomes and suggest improvements.
Operational Requirements: Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and organisational guidelines to ensure consistency and quality in training delivery.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, feedback, and session outcomes following internal documentation standards.
Professional Development: Attend workshops, seminars, and training sessions to stay updated on best practices for working with individuals with special needs.
Engage in continuous learning to enhance skills in training delivery, facilitation techniques, and participant support.
Minimum requirements
- Interest in working with individuals with special needs.
- Basic understanding of special needs education or related fields (experience or coursework in Education, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, etc. is a plus).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
- Willingness to learn and follow established training protocols.
- Basic use of PowerPoint, excel, and word
