Job Description
We are seeking a highly competent and detail-oriented Assistant Shop Manager to support the overall management, operational efficiency, and compliance of our retail operations. This role requires a strong understanding of retail performance management, inventory optimization, staff supervision, and regulatory compliance within the Singapore retail environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Shop Manager and senior management to ensure operational excellence, cost efficiency, and sustainable business growth.
Operational & Performance Management
Assist in overseeing daily shop operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and service quality standards are consistently met.
Monitor and analyse sales performance, customer traffic, conversion rates, and inventory turnover, and prepare periodic operational reports for management review.
Implement operational workflows and SOPs to improve productivity, cost control, and risk management.
Inventory & Supply Chain Oversight
Coordinate inventory planning, replenishment, and stock reconciliation to minimise shrinkage, wastage, and overstocking.
Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure timely procurement and accurate documentation.
People Management & Training
Support recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and performance evaluation of shop staff.
Conduct staff training on operational procedures, customer service standards, and internal controls.
Enforce workplace discipline and ensure adherence to company policies and labour regulations.
Compliance & Internal Controls
Ensure shop operations comply with relevant Singapore regulations, including workplace safety, employment requirements, and internal audit controls.
Assist in preparing documentation for internal reviews, compliance checks, and management reporting.
Handle incident reporting and assist in resolving operational or compliance-related issues.
Customer Experience & Business Development
Manage escalated customer issues professionally and implement corrective actions.
Assist in executing promotional campaigns, pricing strategies, and customer retention initiatives aligned with company objectives.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in retail operations, preferably in a supervisory or assistant managerial role.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data, operational metrics, and inventory reports.
Good understanding of retail SOPs, internal controls, and compliance requirements in Singapore.
Proven ability to supervise staff, manage multiple operational priorities, and work under minimal supervision.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic reporting tools experience with POS and inventory systems is an advantage.
Strong communication skills in English and Chinese ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in process improvement or operational restructuring.
Exposure to audit preparation, internal control frameworks, or regulatory documentation.
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with high accountability.
